Shoplifting is a big problem in the US.  In fact, it is a 13 billion dollar problem.  If you watch movies and television shows, a shoplifter is usually a teenager or pre-teen  girl who stole some gum or maybe some lipstick from a makeup counter.  However, that is not a typical shoplifter.  In fact there is no such thing as a ‘typical shoplifter.’  Men and women of all ages have been caught shoplifting, and in a couple of notable cases, even celebrities that are fairly well off have also been caught shoplifting as well.  So what’s to be done?  Well, one solution to help you with loss prevention is to install locked retail storage cabinets. Asset control is best done by limiting access to stored items to a manager and/or an assistant manager with a key.  They can unlock the storage cabinet when necessary.  For big ticket items like personal electronics or jewelry, asset control and loss prevention are fairly obviously priorities.  However, even stores that are low-cost or specialty stores can employ retail cabinetry to keep their losses down.

Retail Storage Cabinets and the Mom and Pop Store

Retail storage cabinets are also good for a locally owned store or chain as well.  They can help to keep losses down just as much as they can for the big box stores out there.  As locally owned chains often fall victim to shoplifters even more than big retailers do due to the lack of surveillance cameras, a simple locked cabinet can make the difference betweenthriving, and surviving.
