Garage Cabinets and What You Can Put in Them

Bicycles are great examples of things you can put in your garage cabinets, particularly if you live in an area like Arizona, where it is fairly easy to lead an active lifestyle, as we covered in the first part of this article.  Bicycles are bulky and often fall over when parked.  One clever way to store them is to hang them from hooks, just like they do on light rail trains and some buses, only unlike public transit, these cabinets are closed and have a door.  Bicycles also have a lot of extra equipment, such as tires, pumps, spare seats, etc.  Another obvious thing to put in a cabinet is any sports equipment you might have. For example, football equipment is very bulky, what with the pads and helmet, not to mention duffel bags.  Got a kayak?  Why not put it on top of your garage storage cabinet and store the oars in the cabinets below? If you’re clever, you can get a storage cabinet that is big enough to hold your kayak as well.  Such cabinets are custom-built after all.  However, if you think that a garage cabinet is a good place for sports equipment, it’s also great for gardening supplies and lawn equipment.

Lawn Equipment: Put it Somewhere Safe

If you leave shears out in the open air, they will rust and be useless.  The harsh environment of Arizona can also be hard on lawn equipment such as lawn mowers and weed whackers.  There are a lot of pieces of equipment necessary to take care of your garden and lawn, including pruners, hedge trimmers, and, if you’re feeling like a lumberjack, a chainsaw.  If you have small children, all of these things are potential sources of danger, so put them somewhere that they can’t get to easily. Remember, proper storage of items isn’t just about aesthetics; it is also about safety, both for yourself and for your family.  So make sure that you put everything away when you’re not using it, and keep clutter to a minimum.  While there are several ways to accomplish this, one proven way that also adds value to your home is to install a garage storage cabinet.
