Part one of a series on clever
home remodeling focuses on storage space.
Storage Tips and a Custom Closet
Even if you aren’t a hoarder, if you’re like a lot of people, you’ve got a lot of stuff. Be honest. How many drawers in your kitchen are junk drawers? And does it just stop at the kitchen? Are any drawers in your dresser filled with junk? A
custom closet or a storage cabinet may be an option to help you out.
In your closet, if you have a lot of purses and accessories, don’t leave them scattered on the floor. Getting sturdy hangers that can hold everything can be expensive, at $3 a hanger. Another solution is to use shower hooks to hang purses and accessories up. Shower hooks are sturdy and can hold a great deal of weight. And you get your accessories at eye level. Here’s a handy tip for the kitchen. Use old tissue boxes to make a plastic bag dispenser. Another idea is to get a storage cabinet for your kitchen to hold those extra things that all kitchens have. That pretty much covers the kitchen and the bedroom, but what about the garage?
Garage Storage Tips
Here’s an oldie but goodie from your Grandpa’s time. Super glue or nail mason jar lids to the underside of a shelf or table, and attach a jar with screws, nails, brads, or whatever small parts you’ve got too many of. Another good solution is a garage storage cabinet.
So as you see, clutter doesn’t have to win. All you need is a bit of ingenuity, a little effort, and you’ve got a storage solution.
This concludes part one of our series. For more information on home remodeling, be sure to read parts two and three as well.
